Ayutthaya in Thailand, go through the history and conflicts among Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia( The Wat Mahathat)

--

One of the most important stop for this trip is The wat Mahathat which was built by Cambodian but was ruined in the war between Thailand and Cambodia.

An amazing destroyed place

You can see a buddha’s head is stuck into trees at the entrance of this place, this senary is the most popular photo spot here. Not sure how it happened, but under this circumstance, the buddha is saved during the period of war. Many Buddha heads were cut and sold to people who pay for them, which caused serious damage to this culture. The people and the culture are always the victims in wars.

Take a walk around this area, you can still feel the gratitude design and the respects toward religion. Personally, I like the Cambodia design which brings the best part of the building. The polygon design is the most special part of this building and you can find at most octagonal (usually they are hexagonal)

You can notice that there is one completed Buddha here, Buddism is the main religion in Thailand, the monks own the highest social position and people go to temples for anything from birth to death. Once you have the chance to visit Thailand, don’t forget to save your time visiting Ayutthaya and spend some time understanding Buddhism and feeling history.
